Prevent Mold Damage
Mold can be found anywhere where there is a wet environment and the ratio between that moisture and ventilation is obsolete. If a wet area cannot ventilate, you’re going to have a mold issue. From food to medicine, to walls to the dish we put our toothbrushes in, mold can collect and for me, that last one is a spooky truth I don’t want to know about.
But, here are some more!
Mold is Bad For Your Health
This shouldn’t be a secret but just in case you didn’t know, mold can cause some respiratory disturbances. This is more common in people who already have issues such as asthma, but it’s been known to create issues for people without respiratory problems. Symptoms can include: itchy eyes, irritated skin, wheezing, sneezing, and coughing. For those with pre-existing respiratory conditions, mold can cause lung infections.
A spookier truth that some people may not know is that mold spores (which are airborne) can emit neurotoxins that can attach to brain neurons. This can produce an array of symptoms like tremors, depression, and mood swings. In some extreme cases, it causes brain and organ damage and in some of the worst cases, death.
Mold Spreads Like Crazy
Not only does mold spread in the area it’s growing in, but it can also spread through clothing, shoes, or even pets. Mold spores can attach to several items and spread from one space to another.
A spookier truth? It can even travel through the breeze and enter your home.
Mold Can Survive As Long As An Area Stays Moist
Mold can and will survive on any area that stays damp regularly. As mentioned before, an area must be able to dry out or mold will collect. So, leaky roofs, leaky pipes, or any area of the house that contains water is susceptible to mold damage.
You won’t be able to see it, but by the time you smell it, you’ll be surprised at how much area the mold covers.
